Fare Card

Currently, PRT uses a Connect Card, but they are moving over to a Ready Fare card system. I am going to assume that the Ready Fare card will be replacing the Connect Card, even though the Connect Card system works just fine, and there is no need for improvement.

The fare card can have 2 passes added. The first pass will be activated once the first tap is made. Therefore if a rider acquired a 7 day pass, and taped on a Tuesday, that pass will last through Monday before the next pass will be used. If there is no pass, then the rider should have a cash value on the card. The most is $200. There are 4 types of fare cards. There is a child card. This applies to any child from 6-12. Once the child turns 13, they will be required to acquire an adult fare card. There is also the disabled adult card. This is half price like the child card. There is your regular fare card for adult riders. Last is a senior citizen’s card. This is for anyone that is 65 years or older.

Passes are as follows:

  • 3 hour pass – $2.75 or $1.35
  • 1 day pass – $7.00 or $3.50
  • 7 day pass – $25.00 or $12.50
  • 31 day pass – $100.00 or $50.00
  • 365 day pass – $1,000 or $500

If there are no passes assigned to the card, then using your cash pool will automatically give you a 3 hour pass. You do not need to do anything special for this to apply. The 3 hour pass replaces the need for a transfer slip that is no longer produced.
